Basic structure of rolling bearings
The function of the bearing part is to support the pump shaft and reduce the frictional resistance when the pump shaft rotates. Bearings can be divided into rolling bearings and sliding bearings according to their different frictional properties.
Bearings that rely on rolling friction to operate are called rolling bearings. A typical rolling bearing typically consists of four components: an inner ring, an outer ring, a rolling element, and a retainer. The inner ring is mounted on the journal and the outer ring is mounted in the bearing hole of the frame. Usually, the inner ring is fixed while the outer ring rotates with the shaft neck, but there are also cases where the inner ring is fixed while the outer ring rotates. When the inner and outer rings rotate relative to each other, the rolling element rolls in the raceway of the inner and outer rings. The function of the cage is to evenly separate the rolling elements. Rolling elements are essential components in bearings that form rolling friction. There are seven commonly used forms of rolling elements: ball, short cylindrical roller, long cylindrical roller, spiral roller, tapered roller, spherical roller, and needle roller
Rolling bearings are easy to use and maintain, reliable in operation, have good starting performance, and have high load-bearing capacity at medium speeds. Compared with sliding bearings, rolling bearings have larger radial dimensions, poorer shock absorption ability, lower lifespan at high speeds, and louder noise.
The failure forms of rolling bearings are fatigue pitting and plastic deformation. To extend their service life and maintain their rotational accuracy, the bearings should be maintained in a timely manner during the operation of centrifugal pumps, using reasonable lubrication and sealing, and regularly checking the lubricating oil and sealing.
